MONTELLO, Nev. (KRNV & MyNews4.com) -- The 20-Mile Fire is located approximately 15 miles northwest of Montello, Nev. and has burned 13,149 acres. The lightning-caused fire was called in at 2:30 p.m., July 12.
A Type-3 Incident Management Team has been called up and will assume command of the fire at 6 a.m. July 14.
Today, crews were able to build a line with dozers and engines. Early morning assistance by Single Engine Air Tankers and Helitack provided suppression in steep and rugged terrain inaccessible by Engines. Cooler temperatures and slight precipitation also assisted suppression efforts with minimal acreage burned on Friday, July 13.
Working with the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Elko District are the Tecoma Volunteer Fire Department out of Montello, Nevada Division of Forestry and the U.S. Forest Service.
