FERNLEY, Nev. (KRNV & MyNews4.com) -- Parents and Fernley Youth Football League members came together to find out more about the money embezzled by one of the FYFL board members.
The meeting was intense and everyone had an opinion to share. Some parents can't believe the board isn't pressing charges against the person accused of embezzling approximately $24,140.00 earlier this year. Emotions were running high at the meeting, especially after it was revealed that one of the current board members is the ex-wife of the accused embezzler.
The unnamed board member accused of embezzling the money has been removed from the board and paid back $3500.00 so far.
FERNLEY, Nev. (KRNV & MyNews4.com) -- The Fernley Youth Football League says one of its board members embezzled $24,000 and now the league is working to get that money back.
The case was first discovered on May 29. The league has not identified the board member, but in a letter sent to parents, league officials say that person has paid back some of the money but the league is still out $18,600. The Lyon County Sheriff's Department says they are looking into it. In the meantime, if parents have questions there is a board meeting scheduled for this coming Wednesday. It will be at the Fernley Senior Center from 6:30-8:00.
