LAS VEGAS (AP) — Three Nevada schools have landed on the national Blue Ribbon Schools list for excellent academics or major improvement.

The Department of Education announced Tuesday that two Reno schools made the cut — Elizabeth Lenz Elementary School and Ted Hunsberger School. Walter Bracken STEAM Academy in Las Vegas was also honored.

The three schools are among 286 nationwide that will be honored Nov. 18-19 in Washington, D.C.

The National Blue Ribbon Schools Program has been around for 31 years and has given the award to 7,500 public and private schools during that time.

Schools are nominated by the top education official in their state.
