GRIZZLY FLATS, Calif. (AP) — The California Highway Patrol says five high school students suffered minor injuries when a drunken driver crashed into their school bus east of Sacramento.

The crash occurred around 6:50 a.m. Thursday in the community of Grizzly Flats in El Dorado County. Grizzly Flats is about 60 miles east of Sacramento in the Sierra foothills.

CHP Officer Quinn Cuthbertson says the driver hit the bus on a two-lane road and was arrested at the scene on suspicion of drunken driving. He did not know whether any of the five students were taken to hospitals. He was not aware of any other injuries.

The bus belonged to the El Dorado Union High School District.
