RENO, Nev. (MyNews4.com & KRNV) -- District superintendents, teachers, parents, and school administrators are in Reno for the 5th Annual Family Engagement Summit at UNR on Thursday.

17 districts are participating in the event that provides different workshops for everyone involved in the education process in Nevada.

State Senator Debbie Smith is one of the main faces behind the event. She says it really has changed throughout the years, and the main focus of this year is how the different districts can engage with parents via social media.  She says the two most important parts of family engagement is involved parents and teachers.

600 parents registered for the event this year. Smith says they were actually full to capacity.
