CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) — Seven lawyers have applied to succeed Douglas County District Court Judge David Gamble.
Gamble, Nevada's longest sitting District Court judge, is retiring Jan. 6 after 25 years.
Applicants include Douglas County District Attorney Mark Jackson and Minden lawyers James R. Hales and Nathan Tod Young.
Others are state Ethics Commission director Caren Cafferata-Jenkins; Deputy Attorney General Gina Session; and Reno attorneys Marc Picker and Mark Lenz.
The appointment was open to all Nevada attorneys with 10 years of legal experiences, two of those in Nevada.
The Nevada Commission on Judicial Selection will conduct background investigations on all the applicants and hold public interviews, which are tentatively scheduled for Dec. 10 and 11 in Minden.
The commission will then recommend three finalists to Gov. Brian Sandoval, who will make the appointment.
