AT&T customers affected by outage eligible for discounted bill

RENO, Nev. (KRNV & MyNews4.com) -- Customers can call 1-800-288-2020 and let the service representative know that they were a part of the system outage yesterday, and the service representative will apply the discount to their bill, according to John Britton with AT&T.

Britton says so far, all circuits related to the software issue have been restored, but there is DSLAM equipment at another central office (unrelated to yesterday’s outage) that is down and is responsible for DSL/High Speed Internet outages.

The DSLAM equipment affects a few hundred customers and they couldn’t specify what area it would affect, nor give a timeline when they expect to have it restored.

Britton says if you're having problems, customers can reboot their systems or call the above number as well.




RENO, Nev. (AP) — AT&T telephone service has been fully restored in the Reno-Sparks area but spotty outages persist in Carson City.

Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong says progress is being made but there's still some small difficulties there.

Nevada Department of Transportation spokesman Scott Magruder told the Reno Gazette-Journal no one has been able to call into their Carson City headquarters since Monday.

Widespread outages began across a large section of northern Nevada on Monday and Internet access was restricted into Tuesday. Washoe County communications supervisor Clay Griffin says all service was restored in the Reno area by about 3 a.m. Wednesday.

The screwed up part of this whole thing is that MANY "links" use At&T as their route outward ... so MANY links were extremely slow or not working at all thru all this even if you do not use AT&T as your personal ISP. Those affected in this manner don't get compensation!! So I used extra data to try to get to sites and it wouldn't connect.

I called on this, because our business DSL was out for just over a full day. We lost all of our credit and debit machines, as well as the ability to process the majority of our work. AT&T offered $3, and that was only after I spent an entire hour on hold and went through an explanation and verification of account information with two different reps. If I were AT&T, I would be embarrassed to put this information out.
