RENO, Nev. (KRNV & -- Northern Nevada business consultant and community activist Lauren Scott announced her intention to run as a Republican candidate for Nevada’s Assembly District 30 in the 2014 election.

Scott ran unsuccessfully in the 2012 election after Debbie Smith vacated the seat to run for Senate. Scott is running for the seat currently held by Assemblyman Mike Sprinkle.

Scott works primarily as a consultant to government and private industry, focusing on business development and renewable energy issues. She has worked as a lobbyist for Equality Nevada since 2009. Scott was appointed to the Nevada Equal Rights Commission (NERC) by Governor Sandoval in 2012.

Previously registered as a Democrat and nonpartisan, she registered as a Republican in 2011.

Scott says the focus of her legislative efforts will address business development issues and the continued high levels of unemployment in Nevada. She says she intends to work to maintain funding for education and social services while taking a practical approach to business and personal taxation.

Scott was an active-duty member of the US Air Force for seven years. She served three years in Nevada at the Tonopah Test Range in support of F-117A Stealth Fighter operations. She was awarded two Achievement Medals and a Commendation Medal for her service during Operation Desert Storm. She received an honorable discharge in 1994. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration.

I have to wonder what exactly is a "community activist"? There seems to be one under every rock these days, and everyone aparently wants to be one. Makes me thik of "community organizer' or "community aggitator"!

Is there anyone out there that can speak without using the standard talking points. Don't you have any original ideas to show you have leadership skills?
