(Mynews4.com & KRNV) - Another last minute change to Obamacare means Americans now have until the end of Tuesday to sign up for coverage by January 1.
The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services says on Monday, there were nearly two million visits to Healthcare.gov, and more than 250,000 calls seeking help to enroll.
The administration announced the extension in response to the high volume of people trying to sign up. But it was not the last day to enroll completely. You will not face a penalty as long as you enroll by March 31, 2014.
More and more people have been successfully enrolling on the Silver State Exchange lately. The number of people completely enrolled went from 1,500 two weeks ago to 3,000 a few days ago. After Monday, the number is now more than 6,000, according to officials. More people are expected to sign up.
While we've still heard of isolated cases of people not being able to log in or enroll, healthcare officials say most of the glitches are a thing of the past. Silver State Exchange Communications Officer said, "Last Wednesday, we put out a major fix to the website that increased the speed to the website and increased the users' ability to get through the process. Starting Thursday forward, we've had very good reports of people getting through the process very easily."
The deadline to pay in Nevada is Friday.
