Air Guardsmen deployed to southwest Asia this morning

RENO, Nev. (KRNV & MyNews4.com) -- Air Guardsmen deployed this morning at 3:30am to southwest Asia is support of Operation Enduring Freedom.

The deployment included 113 airmen from the 152nd Airlift Wing's maintenance and operations group. They will be based in Kuwait for about four months with three of their C-130 Hercules aircraft. They expect to perform airlift and air drop missions in Afghanistan and throughout the region. The groups are expected to return home to Reno in the spring of 2013.

This is the third rotation for the 152nd Airlift Wing in the past four years. The unit was also continuously deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan with C-130 missions from autumn 2003 to 2008.

(Yawn...again?...really?) - Just like with all government spending, at a certain point rational people of all political stripes have to start asking, "What would happen if we just stopped doing this?".
