RENO, Nev. (KRNV & MyNews4.com) -- Today, the Reno-Tahoe International Airport rededicated a major part of its motif.
The "Giant Slalom" sculpture was originally dedicated on Feb. 29, 1996. The ski sculpture was first placed where the Senator William J. Raggio bust currently exists. It was later moved to the center of the main terminal lobby to serve as an airport icon to welcome and bid farewell to millions of travelers.
Airport officials wanted to kick off the ski and board season with a celebration of this special work of art and symbol of the region's winter sports heritage.
