RENO, Nev. ( & KRNV) -- Governor Brian Sandoval whipped out the aprons on Thursday for his All Nevada Barbecue. The event was held at Rancho San Rafael Park to celebrate the end of primary election season.

Lieutenant Governor nominee Mark Hutchison joined Governor Sandoval to host the community-wide event. News 4 caught up with the Governor and asked him about the situation with Nevada's Health Exchange, and the news that he knew about issues in the system prior to the launch in October.

"It's not a matter of knowing or not. Everyone knew there were issues, and we were doing the best we could," said Sandoval. "One of the things I want to emphasize is we were getting new regulation requirements up to almost the day open enrollment was going to occur."

"We did the best we could," Sandoval added. "One thing is for sure: I'm committed to make it work, and when we go back to open enrollment this fall, it will work well for all Nevadans."

The state has cancelled its contract with Xerox, the company that built the Health Exchange website. However, the new system through Deloitte will not be implemented until 2015.
