CARSON CITY, Nev. (MyNews4.com & KRNV) -- The Nevada Division of Water Resources is proposing amendments to dam and dam safety laws.

The proposed amendments include the addition of environmental loss as a factor in determining hazard classification for proposed dams and a stipulation that holds dam owners accountable to maintain operating manuals and activity logs at all dams.

The amendments are open to public comment and will be discussed at two workshops -- one in Carson City and one in Las Vegas -- beginning today.
