RENO, Nev. (KRNV & MyNews4.com) - After scoring $89 million of your tax dollars for the promise of bringing more business to Northern Nevada, Apple may be running behind schedule on the project construction.
During public meetings, the head of construction said the first phase should be complete by the end of 2012. That was a business office at Fifth and Center in Downtown Reno, which is still an empty lot. In fact News 4 has confirmed Reno approved a construction permit for this location back in October, but to date - it hasn't been picked up from City Hall by the construction company.
The head of that company, United Construction, says he cannot comment about the project, and an Apple spokesperson was just as tight lipped - saying the company confirms they plan to build a data center in our area, but they cannot provide specifics about a timeline.
