SPARKS, Nev. ( & KRNV) – Sparks police are looking for a man who they say is in possession of stolen firearms after ransacking a home in Sparks.

Police say the suspect stole firearms and a vehicle at the 500 block of 6th Street in Sparks late last night. Sparks Police Department say they found the stolen vehicle driving South on El Rancho Drive but when the suspect dove pass the officer, he immediately drove off at high speeds through the City of Sparks and into Reno.

Officers say the suspect drove onto Interstate 80 Eastbound, which is when NHP, Storey and Lyon County Sheriff's Offices assisted in trying to catch the suspect. Officers ended their persuit as he drove into Fernley.

The vehicle is a 2000 gray GMC pick-up with Nevada plates 728VEE and was driven by a Hispanic male who police say appeared to be in his late 20s to early 30s. Officers believe the suspect is armed with stolen firearms and may be a threat.

If you have information on the identity of the suspect you are encouraged to call Secret Witness at 322-4900. They are offering a $1,000 reward for information leading to arrest.

This guy almost hit me as I was driving on I-80. I started to pull over as I saw him and the cops coming behind me and he almost swiped me but I hit my brakes at the last minute. He almost hit the car in front of me also then they got by us. Probably about 20-25 cops after him. I live in Fernley they still had cops in Fernley going after him once I got near my house. I had a few more cops fly by me going towards Fallon. I cant believe they lost him that is an open highway get close and Crash that fool. Nobody was really on the road that late at night

When they're pursuing someone and the driver starts getting too wild and dangerous,a lot of times they'll just break off the pursuit, figuring the driver will slow it down without hitting someone or causing an accident. They can track the driver down later and all the records of the pursuit can still be used in the prosecution once they catch the driver.
