SPARKS, Nev. (MyNews4.com & KRNV) -- According to a press release from Sparks Police, an arrest has been made in the recent cases of indecent exposure.
Wednesday morning at approximately 9 a.m., the suspect -- Douglas Jones -- was arrested on charges of Indecent Exposure and Luring a Child.
The Sparks Police Department had received several reports of Jones driving his vehicle in the area of Shadow Lane, approaching females and asking them for directions.
On one occasion in April, while Jones was driving his vehicle, he stopped next to a 47-year-old female who was in front of her residence. Jones asked for directions, and while the female was looking in the vehicle talking to Jones, she saw that Jones had his penis in his hand and was masturbating. A friend of the female's came toward them and he drove away. The female victim was able to get the license plate and a description of the suspect vehicle.
Again in April, Jones was driving his vehicle and stopped next to a 12-year-old girl while she was in the area of Round Mountain. Jones asked the girl for directions and asked her to get into the vehicle so she could show him. The girl refused to get into Jones' car and he drove away.
The Sparks Police Department also has other information that Jones had asked a third female for directions while driving in the same area; but there is no probable cause to believe a crime was committed during this incident.
The arrest was made Wednesday after Jones was placed under surveillance by Sparks Police detectives after he left his place of work. Detectives followed Jones as he drove through the parking lot of Reed High School twice. Jones was also observed driving through the parking lot of a nearby Smith's twice. Jones made no contact with anyone during the surveillance and was subsequently stopped and arrested after about 40 minutes.
The suspect's vehicle is described as follows:
- 1996 Ford Explorer
- NV Licence #MA5ON
- Green over tan in color (Photos attached)
There is no further information to be released at this time as the investigation is continuing. Sparks Police asks that anyone with information that could be helpful to the investigation to come forward.
