Local artists have created a new song they hope will raise money for a good cause.
Chance Geving along with his 67-year-old mom Kathy Rasley co-wrote "Santa Gonna be Happy."
The two knew there was something special about the Christmas tune so they reached out to local producer Tom Gordon to create the song.
With all local artists like Erika Paul Carlson the song became a reality.
Carlson plays jazz piano for the song while Geving sings.
"Santa Gonna be Happy" is available to purchase on iTunes.
By purchasing the song on iTunes not only will you get to add it to your holiday playlist, a portion of the proceeds will go to the Food Bank of Northern Nevada.
"My mom and I just pray that it goes viral. If it goes viral it will feed a lot of people," Geving says.
Geving is not clear the exact percentage of the proceeds at this time, but hopes to be presenting the Food Bank of Northern Nevada a fairly good sized check.
Jocelyn Lantrip with the Food Bank of Northern Nevada says they've never gotten a donation from the proceeds of the song before.
Lantrip says any type of donation helps.
"Every single donation makes a difference. Every dollar helps us to provide four meals for those who need them," Lantrip says.
Singing and writing are just hobbies for Geving he works as a Pro Fitness Coach at BodyFuel Fitness in Sparks.
