RENO, Nev. (KRNV & MyNews4.com) -- Pre-registration for the 2014 Hot August Nights event kicked off today and includes cars made in 1976, which means four more years of eligible vehicles.
While event organizers are looking ahead to next year they're also getting ready for this year's event which rolls into town in less than four months.
"We're going to put on one heck of a show here in 2013," said Hot August Nights Executive Director Tony Marini.
Marini said there will be plenty to get the crowd revved up.
"The drag races are coming back this year," Marini said. "We started a Barrett-Jackson Cup 40 thousand dollar prize."
One of last year's new fan favorites will be back too.
"The ride and drives are 100 percent go," Marini said. "We might even spread them out and have a couple of locations with them this year."
But another may be on the chopping block.
"Demolition derby is still up in the air right now," Marini said. "We're trying to get some cars and some drivers to come right now."
Derby or no derby, there's one thing Marini says is sure to draw some attention: the entertainment.
"In about a week we're going to announce our entertainment, which is always a big deal," Marini said. "We love our entertainment schedule this year. We're really excited about that."
So Marini says you should get ready and get registered.
"Let's have a great 2013," Marini said. "Be a part of this great event because we're going to continue to make it bigger and better for years to come."
If you'd like to pre-register your car for Hot August Nights next year, you'll get 10 dollars off and an extra ticket to the Barrett-Jackson auction if you sign up before May 3.
