From the Ask Joe File we have a question from a viewer about something we've been covering closely here on News 4 and that is Honor Flight, a program which allows veterans in Nevada to travel back to Washington D-C.
Georgia Tachoires wrote in asking how much time the veterans actually get to spend together on these trips to Washington ?
Let's just put it this way: They pack a lot into a short weekend .
On the last Honor Flight trip a week ago, the group took off from Reno at around six in the morning on a Friday, flew all day with a couple of stops, and arrived in Baltimore that night.
Saturday they spent the day visiting a number of different war memorials including the World War Two Memorial and Arlington National Cemetery.
Then on Sunday, they flew home and were back here by mid afternoon.
So it is a whirlwind trip. It's the only chance though for these veterans to get back east and see the memorials dedicated to their efforts and their comrades who are no longer with us.
Our crew went along for the trip and Bryan Samudio will be bringing us his reports the entire first week of July on News 4 at 5 and 11.
It is an emotional journey for these veterans and the stories are well worth watching.
