Question:
Ashley Cullins, A colleague here in the News 4 newsroom asked what happened to the metal horse that had been placed along Interstate 80 at the Virginia Street exit?

Answer:
I checked with Scott Magruder over at NDOT.  Let's just say he was very familiar with this issue.  You see NDOT put it up right across from the university and some folks up on campus and some alumni apparently thought that wild mustang looked more like a Boise State Bronco, a rival Boise State Bronco!  Anyway it didn't take long before NDOT was approached and asked to move the artwork, and NDOT accommodated.  So the horse will be put up at some other location and NDOT has instead put up a cottonwood tree to replace it at that Virginia Street exit.  So hopefully the tree won't upset anybody, but when you do drive by, at least you know there's a story behind it now.

Your response went 'way wide of the mark. The question I'll Ask Joe is: Who beefed about the artwork to NDOT, and why was the artwork removed? There's a possibility that someone was being a little sensitive about the piece; Boise State's kicking our ass (that's a livestock term) is a stretch to tie that art to Boise. Who squawked, Joe???
