From the Ask Joe file, one of our viewers has a question about a story from last week: the RTC's plan to replace a busy intersection with a roundabout at Hunter Lake and Mayberry Drive.
Stacy wrote in asking what is going to happen with the roundabout plans after Tuesday's public meeting on the issue?
RTC, the Regional Transportation Commission, has produced a video showing what their plans are for that intersection. Planners have said the roundabout would be designed to keep traffic moving a little more smoothly in that area.
RTC held a public meeting on Tuesday, to inform the public about the plan and answer questions. Several hundred people showed up at the meeting.
There are some concerns about how safe it will be for students at nearby Hunter Lake Elementary school to cross the street, if the roundabout is built.
So what happens now? RTC said their staff listened to the public's concerns on Tuesday, and planners will review all of the input and assess how to move forward. They will study the best way to improve traffic flow without jeopardizing pedestrian safety.
