CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) — A bill raising sales and property tax rates in Washoe County to fund school maintenance and security projects has passed out of a legislative committee.

AB46 was approved Tuesday by the Assembly Taxation Committee in its original form after an amendment authorizing the school board to impose the tax was withdrawn.

Instead, the bill requires Washoe County commissioners to implement that tax hikes.

The bill now goes to the Assembly floor, where it will need a two-thirds majority, or 28 votes, to advance to the Senate.

a tax for school maintenance really there was no money in any of the other school taxes for maintenance?? There probably was but the unions took them as wage increases for union teachers and they will do the same thing with this tax.
