UPDATE: Jon Ralston, Host of Ralston Reports weeknights at 6:30 on News 4, is reporting that Brooks told his fellow lawmakers that he has medical problems, not psychological problems. He needs the leave of absence to heal.

CARSON CITY, Nev. (KRNV & MyNews4.com) - Assemblyman Steven Brooks "has agreed to take a leave of absence" after he is sworn in Monday.

Speaker Marilyn Kirkpatrick says the Democratic caucus met with Brooks on Sunday.  According to the Las Vegas Sun, the North Las Vegas Democrat reportedly apologized to Kirkpatrick for his alleged threat that led to his arrest a few weeks ago.

The Las Vegas-Review Journal was the first to break the story.
