CARSON CITY, Nev. ( & KRNV) -- News 4 has confirmed that a complaint has been filed against the group funding an attack ad on current Secretary of State Ross Miller. Miller is now running for Attorney General.

According to the Secretary of State's Office, former Deputy Secretary of State Matt Griffin filed the complaint. Griffin said if someone is expressing advocacy for or against a candidate, they have to file their ad through the Secretary of State's Office. This ad has not been filed.

The State Government Leadership Foundation is funding the ads. The Attorney General's Office is now investigating.

The "State Government Leadership Foundation" is not a state group, but one of the many extreme right wing GOP groups. It is an ally of "Americans for Prosperity (AFP), which is partially funded by the Koch brothers. It is a 501(c)(4) organization, which means that the IRS does not require it to list its supporters and contributors. This is a trick to allow wealthy people and organizations to contribute unlimited funds to their favorite politicians.
