RENO, Nev. (KRNV & MyNews4.com) -- With the heat cranking comes crooks, and with that comes a warning from experts to you that if anyone knocks on your door offering to fix or even inspect your air conditioner unit, you might want to be wary.

Nevada Contractor Licensing says this is the time of year when crooks go door to door targeting the elderly. They say to never hire someone unless they are a licensed contractor and always get three bids before anyone touches your a.c. unit. If you have a been a target of these scams, call your local police department.
