SPARKS, Nev. ( & KRNV) -- Some of the best young auto mechanics are putting their skills to the test today in Sparks.

The Ford/AAA Student Auto Skills Competition is back in action at John Ascuaga's Nugget.

It's a hands-on contest in which students across the state diagnose and repair deliberately "bugged" vehicles, then drive them across the finish line.

This contest will decide Nevada's top high school automotive technology team; winning teams from every state will earn scholarships and advance to the national finals held this June at Ford's world headquarters in Dearborn, Michigan.
