RENO, Nev. (KRNV & MyNews4.com) -- The BLM announced a new fall/winter horse gathering schedule today.
Gathers have been re-prioritized based on drought, and in some cases, animal conditions. BLM officials say the gathers and removals are needed to bring herd sizes into balance with other range land resources and uses, as required by federal law.
BLM officials also want to let the public know they are reaching full capacity in the holding corrals, so the public is encouraged to consider adopting a wild horse or burro.
