RENO, Nev. (MyNews4.com & KRNV) -- The 16th Barracuda Championship at Montrêux -- the PGA TOUR’s only West Coast summer stop in 2014 -- will again offer a free shuttle opportunity for spectators as an effort to support the Food Bank of Northern Nevada (FBNN).
As in years past, the shuttle from the public parking lot is offered for $5 per vehicle of guests, however guests who bring two or more non-perishable food items to donate to FBNN will be granted free shuttle service to the tournament grounds. All public parking will be available at Galena High School, located off Mt. Rose Highway.
“Last year, attendees of the Barracuda Championship collected 2,475 pounds of food for FBNN and this year we hope to double that,” said Chris Hoff, executive director for the Reno-Tahoe Open.
FBNN is among the extensive list of charities that the Barracuda Championship assists during its event, which also includes The First Tee of Northern Nevada, Boys & Girls Club of Truckee Meadows, The Children’s Cabinet, and the Veteran’s Guest House. In addition to collecting 2,475 pounds of food at last year’s event, the Reno-Tahoe Open Foundation hosted the inaugural Beer V. Wine pairing event in November, which raised over $4,000 and an additional 239 pounds of food for FBNN.
Another way to gain a free shuttle ride to the 2014 Barracuda Championship from the public parking lot is to carpool with four or more attendees in any vehicle.
