RENO, Nev. (KRNV & MyNews4.com) -- As part of a historic partnership with Hot August Nights, Barrett-Jackson, The World’s Greatest Collector Car Auctions, announced that the inaugural Barrett-Jackson Cup to be awarded during this year’s Downtown Reno Show-n-Shine.
The event will include a $40,000 prize purse, with $20,000 being awarded to the car that earns the coveted Ultimate Best of Show Award. This comes on the heels of Barrett-Jackson’s agreement to hold the first-ever Hot August Nights Auction Presented by Barrett-Jackson at the Reno-Sparks Convention Center August 8-10, 2013.
Participants in the Downtown Reno Show-n-Shine will compete in daily competitions beginning Wednesday, August 7 through Friday, August 9. Fifteen daily Best of Show winners will receive a ribbon and an invitation to return on Saturday for the Finals to take place Saturday, August 10. The 45 finalists will be on stage in the Silver Legacy Ballroom from the hours of 8am to 4pm where the top five will be selected then sent to the Barrett-Jackson Auction for the final judging.
Once the final five have been judged at the auction by a team of Barrett-Jackson officials and placed in their perspective winning category of 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th or Ultimate Best of Show Winner, they will proceed back to downtown Reno and be staged on Virginia Street for the Awards Presentation during a spectacular fireworks display presented by the Silver Legacy Resort Casino.

•Ultimate Best of Show: $20,000 and the first-ever Barrett-Jackson Cup™
Assisting Barrett-Jackson in this inaugural Barrett-Jackson Cup™ will be: Bobby Alloway; Pete Chapouris; Bob Johnson and Bob Millard will be involved in all aspects of the award.
