RENO, Nev. (AP) — Nevada wildlife officials trapped and released a pair of troublesome black bears over the weekend in the Reno and Carson City areas.
Both bears were repeat offenders. One was caught on Saturday raiding a chicken coop in the same area around Verdi where it was caught in July.
State officials say it was six or seven years old. It had gained about 50 pounds since it weighed in at 350 pounds in July.
It was released on Sunday in the Carson Range.
The other female black bear was trapped Friday in west Carson City. It was caught previously in October. It was released near Marlette Lake.
Both bears were given the full aversion treatment, chasing them with dogs and shooting them with rubber shotgun slugs as they fled.
