SPARKS, Nev. (KRNV & MyNews4.com) -Great Basin Brewery in Sparks is playing host to an inaugural Beer vs. Wine War Wednesday, November 13 to benefit the Reno-Tahoe Open Foundation and the Food Bank of Northern Nevada.

The fundraiser is a tasting of various cheeses that are paired with Great Basin beer and wine. Attendees will then get to vote on which pairing they like the best.

"This is a great way to keep both our foundations out in front of everybody and have a good time with beer and wine who doesn't like that?" Executive Director of the Reno-Tahoe Open Foundation Chris Hoff says.

There will also be a silent auction and raffle for a variety of prizes. If guests bring two or more nonperishable food items for the Food Bank of Northern Nevada they will earn free raffle tickets.

"We love to bring awareness to the hunger issue in our community, but it's always great to have a party around that awareness and have fun with it," Marketing and Communications Director of the Food Bank of Northern Nevada Jocelyn Lantrip says.

The RTO Foundation has donated almost $3 million since 1999. Hoff says this year alone the RTO Foundation has donated more than $350,000 to a number of local charities.

The event goes from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Great Basin Brewery in Sparks. Tickets are $45 at the door.
