Bicyclist dies after vehicle crash near Highway 395

RENO, Nev. ( & KRNV) -- One bicyclist is dead after being struck by a vehicle near Golden Valley Road on Friday.

The incident happened at around 8:15 p.m. near Highway 395 northbound, just off the Golden Valley Road exit. The driver was uninjured, and remained on scene.

That was my next door neighbor. A sweet old man that didn't get or of the house much and on a good day would ride his bike. This is just terrible people go way to fast on N virginia and innocent people get killed. Rip Patrick Gavin. My prayers are with you and the family.

Everybody has to share the road. I've seen bad behavior on both sides. While the car/truck is a little bit more deadly than a bicycle, both have use their heads and be alert.

Not saying the driver is guilty of any wrongdoing here but I will say that on the few occasions I have ridden between Golden Valley Sun Valley and Cold Springs that drivers will go out of their way to throw sodas swerve in front of you or turn directly in front of you just to laugh and see your reaction... People are rather calloused here when it comes to cyclists...
