WADSWORTH, Nev. (AP) — The Nevada Highway Patrol has identified the 41-year-old bicyclist killed over the weekend in a collision with a car on a state highway north of Wadsworth.
The patrol said in a statement on Wednesday that Trevor Johns of Nixon was riding his bike northbound on State Route 447 at about 10 p.m. Saturday in an area with no roadway lighting and no paved shoulders.
He was struck by a Chevrolet Cavalier that was traveling in the other direction and passing a slower vehicle in the 65 mph zone.
The patrol says the car driver, 54-year-old Gilbert Gardner of Winnemucca, is cooperating with investigators and alcohol does not appear to have been a factor in the accident.
Anyone with information is asked to call NHP at 775-689-4682.
