Bill forces state reaction to guns executive order

CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) — One Nevada Assemblyman wants Nevada to fight any attempts by the Obama administration to restrict gun rights through executive order.

Republican Assemblyman Jim Wheeler of Minden introduced AB196 during the Assembly floor session Monday.

The bill requires the Nevada attorney general's office to sue the federal government if an effort to infringe on the Second Amendment comes via an executive order. The governor's office could mandate the action, or the attorney general could proceed without gubernatorial direction if an executive order qualifies.

The measure does not cover laws passed by Congress.

Why do cops and body guards carry guns? To protect. Why do I carry a gun to protect myself because they're never around. Sheriff Furlong is a corrupt sheriff and many in Carson City know it. Unfortunately the "good old boy" club keeps him in office. How else could a city as small as Carson City, with all the police we have, City, county, state and federal everywhere have such a drug and gang problem? I'll keep my guns for my protection and that of others, since it appears the only difference between a cop and a crook, is one carries a badge!

Carson City Sheriff Kenny Furlong has said he will comply with any federal mandate to take our firearms. This is tyranny and treason. All Sheriff, police and other law enforcement that supports the tyrannical theory of "gun control" and confiscation should be immediately and permanently removed from office including that corrupt Carson City Sheriff Furlong.

I have yet to hear any government or media tell the American people how American's will be able to protect themselves from criminals and violence without the right to bare arms. Emergency response to my home is 10-20 minutes depending if they have already been dispatched to another call. What if I am broke down in the middle of the desert? Who is going to protect me, the law abiding citizen? I am a small female, I don't stand a chance against anyone over 130 pounds, with or without them having a firearm.

Any attempt to deprive the people of their 2nd Amendment right by Executive Order or law passed by congress would be in violation of the US Constitution. Don’t expect the Attorney General, a Lawyer, to do anything. As far as the Governor mandating this, he should just create an “Executive Order” that Nevada will not comply with any such orders. Mr. Wheeler’s bill does not go far enough to put a stop to this stuff. It needs to cover the Executive Order as well as Congressional law and in addition any enforcement efforts of the government of any of those laws or orders.
