CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) -- A board chaired by Gov. Brian Sandoval has approved a $1.5 million contract to hire Deloitte Consulting to assess Nevada's problem-plagued health insurance exchange built by Xerox.

The Board of Examiners made up of the Governor, Attorney General and Secretary of State held a special meeting Tuesday in Carson City to vote on the matter recommended by exchange officials.

Xerox was awarded a $75 million contract to build Nevada's online web portal called Nevada Health Link. But problems with program errors, long wait times, botched billings and coverage verifications have state officials looking for answers.

They also want to make sure problems are corrected before the 2015 enrollment period begins in November.

Deloitte says its assessment will take five weeks.

Excuse me... isn't Deloitte the outfit that screwed up California's Unemployment System for over two months (one month longer than Nevada's screw up by a different company) and they are the outfit that did similar damage in about 7 other states. They also are involved in the screw up of the computerization of Obamacare and other computerization conversions. They have been fired by the US government and several stares for their incompetence. Someone tell me why this backwoods state would hire them!!
