CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) — Overseers of Nevada's troubled health insurance exchange will be weighing several options and could make a decision on how to fix the system in time for the 2015 open enrollment period.

Some options prepared by exchange staff to be discussed Tuesday include a stop-gap measure of using the federal program to determine eligibility and enrollment for the upcoming year.

That would give Xerox more time to fix problems with the system by late 2015, or allow the exchange to seek a new operator.

Each alternative has costs. Exchange officials say some could be covered with redirecting existing grant funds.

Transferring a successful system from another state would require more federal dollars.

And permanently using the federal program for some aspects would require upgrading the state's Medicaid system.
