Bomb in downtown Elko was pipe bomb, no injuries

6:30pm - Several Blocks of downtown Elko were evacuated and streets closed for about two hours Monday Afternoon as the Elko Bomb Squad closed in on a suspicious device. Captain Will Lehmann said officers used a robotic device to explode what appeared to be a pipe bomb. No injuries reported. Police are continuing their investigation.



ELKO, Nev. (KRNV & MyNews4.com) -- Elko Police have closed off 5th Street between Idaho & Silver as crews investigate a possible pipe bomb in the UPS drop box in front of Nevada State Bank. No injuries or explosions have been reported. The device is suspicious and the EPD Bomb Squad is on the scene.

My thanks to the Law Enforcement Agencies of Elko for an Excellent job. People who think Elko is just a "hick town" are SOOO Wrong,and this helps prove it. Kudos for doing a great service to Elko!
