RENO, Nev. (MyNews4.com & KRNV) -- The race for Reno City Attorney has a new face. Brett Kandt announced on Tuesday that he will run for Reno City Attorney.
Kandt brings more than 20 years of legal experience, and currently serves as Special Deputy to the Nevada Attorney General. As Special Deputy, he provides leadership as a senior policy advisor on a number of issues facing Nevadans. His responsibilities include serving as Executive Director of the Nevada Prosecution Advisory Council, where he focuses on improving the enforcement of Nevada law for the protection of the public.
“The residents of Reno deserve a City Attorney who will protect our families and our tax dollars,” said Kandt. “At a time when our City needs to safeguard every dollar, I will ensure all actions taken by the City are legal and do not expose taxpayers to unnecessary risk. I will not allow taxpayers to suffer the consequences for those who do not fulfill their contractual or financial obligations to the City.”
Kandt has served on several local boards and task forces, including five years on the City of Reno Financial Advisory Board. He also served on the Fairness in Reno Sparks Taxes (FIRST) Blue Ribbon Task Force, and most recently, he chaired the Reno Service Priorities Task Force.
Kandt lives in Reno with his wife, Jennifer, and 9-year-old son, Kyle.
