UPDATE 6:00pm - Sierra Front Dispatch tells News 4 the fire is contained and crews are now mopping up the scene.

No structures are threatened and there are no reports of any injuries.



UPDATE 4:40pm - The Central Lyon County Fire Chief tells News 4 the fire is 80% contained.

The fire started in a shed that burnt to the ground.

Crews now estimate the fire burned 80 acres.

Investigators are still working to find the cause of what started the fire in the shed.



RENO, Nev. (KRNV & MyNews4.com) -- Sierra fire officials confirm a brush fire east of Silver Springs.

Officials say the fire started at about 2:25 this afternoon. It has burned about 60 acres and one building has been lost, but there are no injuries.

The fire is near Highway 50 east of Silver Springs and west of Lahontan.

Sierra Fire Protection District and Lyon County fire officials are on the scene.

The cause of the fire is unknown.
