UPDATE 7:20 PM -- According to the U.S. Forest Service the Steamboat Fire is now 100% contained.
UPDATE 6:27 PM -- Sierra Front is now reporting the Steamboat Fire has burned 300 acres. The fire is now 75% contained.
UPDATE 4:37PM -- According to Reno Fire Chief Hernandez the fire has grown, but there's no estimation on containment. Fire crews are focusing on the surroundings, drowning out the fire and protecting structures in the area. Hernandez says everything is looking good for now.
UPDATE 3:00pm -- According to Truckee Meadows Fire Chief Charles Moore the Steamboat Fire has now burned approximately 30 acres.
Seventy-five to eighty firefighters are on the scene with approximately 30 to 35 pieces of equipment. Moore says no air support is available at this time and the closest firefighting aircraft is in southern California at this time.
The fire was threatening the areas of Juniper Ridge and Aspen Glen, but a sift in the winds pushed the fire back on itself and away from the homes.

The fire is burning about 5 acres of grass and sagebrush.
Fire crews are on scene, it is unknown at this time who has jurisdiction over the area.
According to a News 4 crew member on scene the fire is burning south of 4th and Woodland.
