UPDATE 6:27 PM -- Sierra Front is now reporting the Steamboat Fire has burned 300 acres. The fire is now 75% contained.

UPDATE  4:37PM -- According to Reno Fire Chief Hernandez the fire has grown, but there's no estimation on containment. Fire crews are focusing on the surroundings, drowning out the fire and protecting structures in the area. Hernandez says everything is looking good for now.

UPDATE 3:00pm -- According to Truckee Meadows Fire Chief Charles Moore the Steamboat Fire has now burned approximately 30 acres.

Seventy-five to eighty firefighters are on the scene with approximately 30 to 35 pieces of equipment. Moore says no air support is available at this time and the closest firefighting aircraft is in southern California at this time.

The fire was threatening the areas of Juniper Ridge and Aspen Glen, but a sift in the winds pushed the fire back on itself and away from the homes.

Mews4 doesn't have a handle on this story. Where is Woodland? It's the Truckee MEADOWS fire chief, not Truckee (I would assume). "Jurisdiction"- I still don't understand what I voted for or Y this silly turf war isn't resolved...maybe a little slower, more reasoned reporting and an Editor could improve on this 'stuff'. But NOooooo
