RENO, Nev. (KRNV & MyNews4.com) - The Washoe County Health District has changed Burn Code from Yellow to Red. It applies to Reno, Sparks, and Southern Washoe County from Washoe Valley to Silver Knolls.

The Washoe County Health District says strong temperature inversions and stagnant weather conditions have caused air pollution levels to rapidly increase. Use of fireplaces, wood stoves, and pellet stoves is prohibited until further notice unless that is your only source of heat.

The Air Quality Index (AQI) may be Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups at times meaning people with heart or lung disease, older adults, and children should avoid prolonged or heavy exertion. Everyone else should reduce prolonged or heavy exertion.

"your only source of heat" means: U like your 1960's fireplace, U use a lot of cotton/wood whether it's that cold or not, because that's your NVada right, dammit! & U ain't gonna pay no skyrocketing enrgy bill to no enviro-whacko gub'mit for your under-insulated gas-guzzling house. And, i see a Big Brown Cloud o' smoke over my neighborhood.
