RENO, Nev. ( & KRNV) -- Buy Nevada First Gift Shop & Visitors Center, a store featuring all things Nevada-made and locally-owned, opened its doors in the Reno Town Mall in August and will now celebrate its grand opening on Thursday, October 30 -- just in time to share a birthday with the Silver State.

The 4,000 square-foot store sells local art, pottery, jewelry, food, candy, inventions, clothing, soaps, books, and music, and only if it's 100% "battle born."

“This new store will be a great place... by supporting locals, the money [you spend] stays here and helps the local economy. We are across the street from the Reno-Sparks Convention Center and the Atlantis Casino and down the road from the Peppermill, [which makes] this a great location to get information to tourists about our great local businesses. We want them to take some 'Nevada' home with them,” says Dave Asher, owner of Buy Nevada First.

The store is not only locally-sourced, but locally-managed. Shelly Jackson, founder of Indie Reno -- a local artist group -- is in charge of day-to-day operations.

Buy Nevada First Gift Shop & Visitors Center is located at 4001 S. Virginia St. in Reno. For more info, call (775) 224-2242.
