SPARKS, Nev. (KRNV & MyNews4.com) -- The mayor of Sparks is getting canned today, but don't worry, it's not what you think.

It's all part of the 7th annual Can the Mayor food drive benefiting the Food Bank of Northern Nevada.

Sparks Mayor Geno Martini is asking for the public's help in donating non-perishable food items.

If you'd like to join in the cause, goods can be dropped off at the Sparks City Hall Monday through Friday between 8am and 5pm.

The food drive runs through Dec. 21.
