CARSON CITY, Nev. (KRNV & MyNews4.com) -- A two-year-old is being treated for serious injuries after being hit by a car.

According to Carson City Sheriff’s Office, emergency personnel were called to the Carson Meadows Apartments parking lot yesterday, Wednesday, Apr. 24, after a child was run over by a vehicle.

CCSO says the male two-year-old ran out from the apartment toward his father in the parking lot, when he ran into the side of a vehicle that was attempting to back up.

The vehicle continued to back up while the child was knocked down, and ran over the toddler.

The mother of the child picked her son up and brought him into the apartment until emergency personnel arrived.

CCSO says there is a black mark across the lower abdomen of the child, and he was brought by Careflight to Renown.

CCSO does not know how severe his injuries are, but there are being treated as major.
