CARSON CITY, Nev. (KRNV & MyNews4.com) -- Carson City Sheriffs are looking for suspects in an early morning home burglary.

At around 4 a.m., the Carson City Sheriff’s Office responded to a burglary in the 4700 block of Old Clear Creek Road. The resident reported that a white male adult, around 6 feet tall and wearing an orange jumpsuit, identified himself as a gas utility worker searching for the origin of a gas leak.

The resident was skeptical, since there are no gas service lines in the area, and the original discovery of the man took place on a patio/deck to the rear of the house. The resident armed himself with a gun and went to the front door, finding the man in a vehicle that had been parked directly in front of the garage doors and front door porch. The resident talked to the suspect, and the suspect then jumped into his vehicle in an attempt to flee. The vehicle then and crashed onto an adjacent property. Although the resident did fire his weapon during the incident, no one was injured by the shots.

Sheriff’s Deputies say there is evidence of two suspects at the scene, and that they both fled into the surrounding mountains south of the Clear Creek area. The suspects were not located.

The vehicle used by the suspect was a black Jeep Cherokee that had been reported stolen January 16, 2013. The Nevada license plates were reported stolen on January 19, 2013.

Anyone with information regarding the identity of the suspects in this burglary is encouraged to contact the Carson City Sheriff’s Office at 887-2500, or Secret Witness at 322-4900 if they wish to remain anonymous.
