CARSON CITY, Nev. (MyNews4.com & KRNV) -- Nancy Cole's 3rd grade class at Empire Elementary School in Carson City is making a positive difference in their community.

All year long they've been saving money in a piggy bank for a good cause, and Tuesday, their hard work will pay off as they present Lisa Schuette of Carson Animal Services Initiative with the money they've raised for a new animal shelter.

Students will be presenting the money at Empire Elementary School in Carson City at 1:30 p.m. The school is located at 1260 Monte Rosa Drive.
