CARSON CITY, Nev. (KRNV & MyNews4.com) — Carson City sheriff's deputies say they intend to bring arson charges against a man accused of setting his home on fire.
According to Sheriff Ken Furlong, 51-year-old Peyton Bloxton was distraught and attempting to take his own life when he started the fire at his home at 1425 Siskiyou Drive about 6 p.m. Sunday. He escaped the burning house and no one else was injured.
"He became distraught and started by flicking matches on things around the house," said Furlong. "Ultimately, the house caught on fire."
The fire damaged one house and two neighboring properties before crews were able to extinguish the flames. Fire officials say several neighbors with children will be temporary displaced from their homes.
Bloxton is currently being held at the Carson City Jail. Furlong said he will undergo a mental evaluation.
