RENO, Nev. (MyNews4.com & KRNV)--It's bringing Jazz superstars and the finest emerging young artists to town for three days and it all kicked off Thursday night with the opening concert.
Two-time Grammy nominated trumpeter Dave Douglas kicked off the festival last night with the opening concert at Nightingale Hall on University of Nevada, Reno's campus.
Douglas serenaded the crowd alongside the University's faculty Jazz quintet.
World-renowned guest artists will not only be playing concerts at night, the Reno Jazz Festival is also hosting daytime competitions, workshops, and clinics. Professional artists and judges will score for more than 9,000 young musicians from all over the west.
The Reno Jazz Festival is considered one of the best of it's kind and it's a seasoned veteran, the festival has been around for five decades.
The festival goes from April 25-27.
