RENO, Nev. (MyNews4.com & KRNV) -- A community collaboration between 10 local businesses and non-profits will commulinate into a unique opportunity to help give back and improve the community. The inaugural ‘Yelp’s On Tap’ community effort begins Monday and will benefit Volunteers of America and The Generator, INC. The week long event will showcase local art and beer.
Monday night is the kickoff and unveiling of the first-ever nevadabeer, a craft-made beer brewed by local brewer Under the Brewing Co. Each bar and restaurant participating will feature nevadabeer and to 'tap' it off the beer will be poured by it's inspired and specially designed craft handle. Artist Jordan Needham says the idea behind each handle is to make it look like it's a part of Reno and inspired by a town that lives on the water. The beer will sell for $5 per pint with $1 from each pint sold will go to Volunteers of America and The Generator, INC.
To celebrate the kickoff of Yelp's On Tap and the debut of nevadabeer The Rotunda inside the Siena Hotel Spa Casino is hosting a kickoff party Monday night from 6 to 8 p.m. Michael Tragash the Yelp Reno Community
Manager says they are expecting a good turnout with at least 200 people in attendance. The kickoff party is free to attend, but a donation is suggested. $5 is the suggested minimum donation, but if $10 is donated the individual will be entered into a raffle for a special dinner for 2 at the all new Whitewater Dining and a stay at the Siena, valued at more than $350.
