RENO, Nev. (KRNV & -- The select panel to choose the next Airport Authority President/CEO is made up of current and former Airport Authority board members, but the chair of the panel now lives and works in Texas.

The seven member panel has narrowed it down to four candidates.

Airport Board Authority board member Mark Crawford will resign from the board this summer, and is now living in Texas, but still owns a home in Sparks. Crawford is working as the CEO of Northwest Texas Healthcare System. Crawford is the former Northern Nevada Medical Center CEO and has been in Texas since February.

The search for the Airport CEO began in December of last year. The select panel hopes to make a recommendation to the board during their May 16th meeting.

The Chairman of the Airport Authority Board Jerry Hall released this statement about Crawford:

Mark Crawford is a respected CEO and he has graciously offered to continue the great work he started on the Airport CEO search panel, even as he has started a new job in Texas. He has led a terrific search, with the guidance of the professional search firm, that has resulted in 4 finalists.

Mr. Crawford is still a resident of Sparks, Nevada. His children are still completing the school year and Mr. Crawford has attended every airport meeting but one since February.

Mr. Crawford’s seat on the Airport Authority Board is set to be filled by the Washoe County Board by July 1. Just yesterday, the county formed a committee to review applications for Mr. Crawford’s airport board seat.

Mr. Crawford has brought the important perspective of an experienced CEO to the search to replace Krys Bart. Continuing the search while commuting has helped Mr. Crawford ensure that this important process would not be compromised. His effort to complete this task should be commended. We truly appreciate his commitment to the search, the airport and the community.
